READING THE DATA

AdsForGames Methodology

How to interpret the data and metrics published by AdsForGames.

These notes explain what a public result represents, what it does not represent, and where uncertainty remains.

01 / STORE PAGE

Steam Page Score

The Steam Page Score assesses how clearly a Steam store page communicates a game to a potential player. It is not a rating of the game’s quality, player enjoyment or commercial prospects.

Structured assessments cover eight areas. AdsForGames calculates the final score consistently from those assessments; a score is an aid to interpreting a page, not a substitute for reading it.

  • Clarity and positioning
  • Differentiation
  • Copy and information hierarchy
  • Media readiness
  • Discoverability and classification
  • Product offer and release status
  • Consistency and trust
  • Page hygiene

02 / PUBLIC FOOTPRINT

Web Presence

Web Presence describes public pages discovered around a game. Sources may include press, creators, events, stores, social platforms, databases, communities, and official or platform pages.

Related references are organized to avoid obvious repetition. This is a view of sources AdsForGames has found, not a complete map of the Internet. Results may evolve as new public pages are observed.

03 / CONTEXT

A related game has a meaningful connection in the available gameplay, positioning or potential-audience context. A relationship is an estimate of relevance, not proof that two games have the same players or will perform alike.

04 / SOCIAL

Social Presence

Social metrics reflect public information captured at a particular time. Counts can change between observations and should not be read as live values. Missing metrics are not automatically zero.

05 / COMPARISONS

Benchmarks

A benchmark compares a score with the current set of valid AdsForGames analyses. The current Steam Page benchmark contains 2,468 analyzed pages; that sample size matters when interpreting any comparison.

The median is the middle score. The percentile describes a score’s relative position within this dataset, including ties. The quartiles divide that ranked dataset into four broad bands. They do not describe all Steam games.

As the analyzed set grows or changes, its median and percentiles can change too. Explore public research.

06 / TIME

Data freshness

Store-page facts, public-web references and social observations can have different capture dates. A recently viewed page does not make every underlying metric current. Where a date is shown, read it as the relevant observation or dataset date.

Information not retrieved should not be interpreted as evidence that a feature, mention or audience is absent.

07 / BOUNDARIES

Limitations

  • Public-web discovery cannot guarantee complete coverage.
  • Social metrics may change between captures or be unavailable.
  • Benchmarks depend on the current AdsForGames analyzed dataset, not an industry-wide sample.
  • The Steam Page Score evaluates communication on a public page, not the quality of the game itself.
